Great british sewing bee

The Great British Sewing Bee final is upon us!!! This Monday 4th July will see either Charlotte, Joy or Jade being crowned the 2016 Sewing Bee. Who do you think will win?

For those of you who don’t know the show, the Great British Sewing Bee is a tv sewing contest based on the same model as the Great British Bake Off if you’re familiar with that one? Every week contestants are given different sewing challenges and at the end of each episode one of them is sadly sent home until on the last episode the last three remaining contestants are left to battle for the winner’s crown.

Now…if you are into sewing already, you are probably already a fan of the show and if  you are only just beginning to sew or thinking of starting soon this show is definitely a must watch for you! It will have you hooked and inspired like anything AND you can learn a lot form it too!

As you probably already know, myself and the lovely Ana from Coco Wawa Crafts have organised an international Great British Sewing Bee meetup for everyone following the show (wherever you might be in the world!) to share your makes, thoughts and chat about sewing…But it doesn’t end here! For those of you who live in or around London, we are hosting a weekly meetup in a South London pub where we can watch the show together and chat about all things sewing afterwards. Exciting much?

Well…This isn’t all so listen up! Each week we will be sharing the event on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and each week there will be a giveaway that can be entered by sharing the event’s post as well as any work in progress or finished project on one or more of these platforms. Wanna play and stand in for a chance to win some fantastic prizes including an amazing £250 fabric bundle from Minerva Crafts Ernest Wright & Son scissors, a fabulous sewing threads box and £25 voucher from Jaycotts, a £50 voucher from Weaverdee, Colette patterns from Fabric Godmother, a copy of Katherine Sheers and Laura Stanford’s book “The Secrets of Sewing Lingerie”  by Kyle Books, a £40 fabric bundle from Coco Wawa Crafts , a £50 voucher from Sew Essential, 3 copies of Leigh Metcalf’s book London Stitch and Knit: A Craft Lover’s Guide to London’s Fabric, Knitting and Haberdashery Shops”a £45 voucher to spend towards any of our classes AND two 2.5 metres lengths of Liberty fabric of your choice from Abakhan! Yes, yes it’s all true!!!

AND…there are even more great news! We are so thrilled to have Quadrille publishers on board too! Each week for the duration of the show, they will kindly send out  a copy of the brand new GBSB book “From Stitch to Style” to one lucky person attending the London meetup, but don’t forget you must follow us and the sponsor (@quadrillecrafts) either on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, share the event and post images by tagging us and using the event’s giveaway and hashtags in order to qualify just as outlined below. There will also be some free copies of Sew Magazine going!  That’s even more reasons to come and watch the show with us, right?

So here are the rules of the game! –

  • On Instagram: You must follow us both (@sewitwithlove and @cocowawacrafts ), repost and tag the giveaway post and share any work in progress or finished project that includes something related to the show which we will pick each week (e.g a particular finish, fabric or technique etc..) When sharing you MUST use the hashtag #gbsbmeetup and the sponsor’s hashtag, which we will announce every week, as well as follow the sponsor’s account.
  • On Facebook: Like both our pages (@sewitwithlove and @cocowawacrafts ) and the sponsor’s page and share and like both posts i.e the one about the event and the weekly giveaway post.
  • On Twitter: Follow us both (@sewitwithlove and @cocowawacrafts) and the sponsor’s account and retweet both tweets.

This way you will be able to enter every giveaway each week  and take part in the Great British Sewing Bee fun wherever you are in the world!
